I think it is because the title was a little misleading. When I saw the title, I thought it was a huge rally or even a statement from a city official. The pictures were not reflective of the title's implied meaning.

Respectfully, it is a city wide sentiment. Hence why they only invite Palestinian representatives to their annual peace event and EXCLUDE Israelis. Google is free babes

u/bukem89 1d ago
I took your post as being a sarcastic / jokey post implying Japan isn't too bothered about Gaza
I think it's pretty odd if you thought a picture of a 3 man protest would be read otherwise

u/Agitated_Horse_777 1d ago
Again, if you knew anything about Nagasaki or did a one sec google search you would know it’s a city wide sentiment. hence why they invite Palestinian representatives to its annual peace event and EXCLUDE Israelis.

Yeah, I’m certain most Japanese people are apathetic to something half the world away

Most people are anywhere. I saw Palestine support groups in Hiroshima, Kyoto, Osaka and Tokyo when I was there in 2025. Even saw a flag in Onomichi. It was heartening.

Yeah, it's Hamas with the walls, snipers shooting kids and airplanes dropping bombs on camps, aid and food collection sites.
You figured it out Sherlock.

Hamas is also a problem for Palestine. Two things can be true.

Can we agree that Hamas and the Israeli regime are both evil and the Palestinian people are suffering for it and that they have the same right to self determination as anyone else on Earth?

With thousands of videos coming out of Gaza can you give me one of a sniper shooting a kid?

Just search "gaza" on Twitter/X, and you will find countless video of kids with no heads and limbs. Or do you specifically want a sniper one to feel anything?

I thought Hamas are terrorists and took hostages and did mass civilians massacre, maybe I didn't understand right sorry

u/gamedude658 1d ago
No, you are thinking of the IOF. They're really good at kidnapping and murdering civilians en masse. They really like killing foreign relief workers and volunteers too. Sick people.

The nut jobs that are "anti-zionist" don't understand if you support a two state solution, you are a Zionist.
Of course, I'm sure a decently high percentage of anti-Zionists support the eradication of Israel though.

I guess Hamas? Since they are the only ones openly saying they want to genocide anybody.

What about the Palestinians and Arabs living in Israel? Are you aware that Arabic is one of the 3 national languages of Israel?

u/_heyb0ss 1d ago
what's bizarre is how people get so defensive about their genocide that referring to them by their political orientation is seen as an insult. supporting genocide and playing the victim in one and the same move is some insane work.

Well, such a word is need to distinguish between normal jewish people and extremist jewish that want to kill the rest of people that share their land and had been doing so in the last thousand years. Should I quote Ben-Gavir Israel's National Security Minister to paint a zionist, yes, I should:
-"I think targeted assassinations should be carried out in Gaza, taking down 30 to 40 every night. Not just those who pose an immediate threat... There are people there who are not worthy of life. They shouldn't live. They're not even people."
-"I see all of Gaza as ours"
-"The right of me, my wife and kids to travel around the West Bank is more important than that of the Arabs."
Are you like him? Do you share his views? If yes, you are a zionist.

Let me rephrase: Can you propose alternative word for Ben-Gavir and Netanyahu? Also do you support Netanyahu and Ben-Gavir? If yes, tell me the alternative word to call you? If not - what do you do to stop them from killing innocent people? Lead meaningless online discussions AGAINST people that see that they are evil?

See that is the problem, language is not set in stone. If one word was invented one way, people might use it differently after a while. In fact it is more than certain that language changes over time and what was thought originally as one word had become another word. And it now has new meaning. If people decide it is now a slur, you can't stop it. Yes, zionist was probably not a slur back when the initial idea of Jewish state was invented. By the way if you don't know, Zionism was even officially considered racism from 1975 till 1991 with UN resolution, so it is not the first period of time where this word has bad notion.

I think Zionist as a term absolutely has connotations of Israel feeling they have a divine right to the territory of Palestine and endorsing the actions of the settlers
Saying it's simply a neatly packaged slur is like saying Republican or Tory or w/e is just a neatly packaged slur, ie. harmfully reductive
Language is complicated - if you read Zionist as simply 'believes Israel should exist', then alternate terms to separate those different sets of beliefs would be useful
