That collage is a wicked trifecta of environments.
BTW.. autocorrect tried to change trifecta to triceratops... which I thought I should share... lol
47
u/Forsaken-Pea-5727 1d ago
Hahahha should have definitely left as triceratops that’s fantastic! And thank you I’m having fun and trying to continue to learn new things it’s good for the brain I’ve heard. And bonus makes life a blast.

u/Tacklestiffener 1d ago
OK, year six /u/Forsaken-Pea-5727 has to fight a triceratops!

u/zombumblebee 1d ago
So it is written, so it must be.
2027: Year of the Triceratops.
Better start training, OP.
24
u/Forsaken-Pea-5727 1d ago
Hahaha I’m not forgetting this lol. I’m gonna come up with something for next year. When you see a triceratops in the collage next year you will know this mission has been done.

I remember seeing your post a few years ago and the first thing that stuck out was how happy you looked. Nothing has changed over the years and you look like you live your life to the fullest each day.
16
u/Forsaken-Pea-5727 1d ago
Hey, thanks for saying that it means a lot and thanks for following along. I don’t do public updates just this once a year because it makes me smile and I’m glad it makes you smile too. I hope you have an awesome day and I really do hope to see you next year. I can’t wait to see what next year’s shenanigans I get into. I really am happy. I’m lucky.

Good for you not letting cancer win!

u/Forsaken-Pea-5727 1d ago
Thank you! I’m really lucky to have gotten so much time. Someone way smarter than me told me I just needed to live a beautiful day and then another so I’ve been trying to do that. And now it’s been a really beautiful life going into year 5. I have incredible Drs at Mayo that have quite literally given me all this time. I got on a brain drug that was still in clinical trials at the time because they pushed for it and got really lucky. Thanks for the good vibes hope you have an awesome day!
10
u/floog 1d ago
Mayo is amazing. My cousin was told in her 40s with her youngest at ok I d 10 that she had Meso and about a year to a year and a half and she wouldn’t see her youngest hit highschool. She went to Mayo and they put her through it but she’s now been five-six years past where she was told she’d make it and going strong. She has kicked the shit out of the odds and prognosis and is loving life. Keep it up!
9
u/Forsaken-Pea-5727 1d ago
Man, I love hearing that! Keep me updated next year if she’s alive too I would love to hear she sounds like a bad ass. They really are incredible. I feel very grateful for them. They never gave up on me. They gave me my prognosis, which I was grateful for because it gave me the chance to make life decisions back when I was first diagnosed they gave me two years on average and I’ve more than doubled that now. I’m on a newer drug and with it being in the brain, it’s dicey how long it will keep working we’re not really sure. Also a bummer is I had my brain radiated and now it’s causing a lot of swelling so the radiation necrosis can also be a problem. My neural oncologist actually said the cancer might not kill me, but the side effects from radiation could but he’s awesome and he’s been watching it diligently and I feel really lucky. I’m really glad to hear that your cousin has had such a good experience too. They rock sorry for the typos. I voice text because of my vision issues. Hope you have an awesome weekend.
2
u/floog 16h ago
So sorry you got dealt this hand, but you really sound like you are making the most out of the time you do have and cherishing it all.
I just looked and my cousin has been going to Dr. Mansfield in oncology. I also love Mayo for giving me a lifetime with my mom, when I was a little kid in the 80s they found cancer in her thyroid and Mayo. She had four or five kids at the time and was in her early 30s. They removed it, did radiation and while she takes a pile of pills and it wreaked havoc over the years, she is still kicking. They are an incredible hospital. Keep up the fight, and keep up the attitude, wishing you many more adventure filled years!3
u/InternalServerErr500 23h ago
Is it a glioblastoma?
https://pharmaphorum.com/news/rna-glioblastoma-vaccine-shows-promise-first-human-trial
8
u/Forsaken-Pea-5727 23h ago
No, it’s stage four Breast Cancer. It started in the breast and then spread to my brain so it’s a little bit different than a primary brain tumor, but it’s actually better prognosis in the sense that I’ve been alive a lot longer than most with giloblastoma that’s even tougher unfortunately. It just means mine started in the breast and unfortunately spread to the brain. Where giloblastoma starts in the brain. Mine can likely spread to other organs, but it just never has yet so my drugs have been working really well to stop new things from popping up.

u/joebleaux 1d ago
Cancer can't win, best it can do is draw. You die, it dies too.
12
u/Forsaken-Pea-5727 1d ago
I’ve never heard that that’s fantastic. I’m going to keep remembering that. Thanks for sharing.

u/WookieSuave 1d ago
You are...........way cooler than me.
8
u/Forsaken-Pea-5727 1d ago
I’m really just good at failing at things lol. I kind of figured with cancer I’m just gonna try everything because why not! I always say what’s the worst that can happen. I mean well we know what that is but I’m kind of already facing that. I hope you have an awesome weekend!
9
u/LividSituation9152 1d ago
Like I told my wife when she was given a 25% survival chance: “one chance in four, somebody gets to be the one, why not you?”
16
u/Forsaken-Pea-5727 1d ago
I absolutely love that outlook and you’re completely right why not her! I was given an average life expectancy of two years when they found the brain tumor just because at the time they didn’t know how much cancer was throughout my body since mine started in the Breast and then moved to the brain and usually once it gets up to the brain, it’s pretty tough. I remember my sister looking at me and being like that’s the average Amber you’re not average are you? Lol and now we always tell each other not to be average. Someone has to make the curve. The drug I’ve been on for my brain. I’ve been on a lot longer than some people because I got on it when it was in a clinical trial so when I meet women that are just now on it, I love telling them how long I’ve been on it because it gives them hope too. Hope that we all can be along for fun for a long time. And wishing your wife well and I’d love to hear if she’s still here next year or two keep me updated and tell her I’m rooting for her too!
15
u/LividSituation9152 1d ago
Like you, she did beat the odds and, due unfortunately to her treatments, her heart failed (cardio toxicity). So we got her a new one and we’re still living between these bumps in the road!
Keep fighting!
10
u/Forsaken-Pea-5727 1d ago
Oh man, heck yeah she’s tough as nails! I love hearing that! I hope next year is your guys best one yet full of so much fun! She deserves it!
10
u/mzingg3 1d ago
Congrats! That jet ski pic is insane!
7
u/Forsaken-Pea-5727 1d ago
Thank you I fell on my head a lot lol maybe not the best idea for a brain tumor but I had a lot of fun. I’ve gotten really into stand-up Jet Ski’s and there’s a guy that is amazing at freestyle flips down in Lake Havasu that gave me a lesson and we tried to get me to get it around. I wasn’t able to get it all the way around and land but I’m hoping to go down next year and take another lesson with him. He’s incredible at it so I feel really lucky I got to learn from him a little bit. I still suck at it, but I had such a blast!

Love this share! Hope you have a great weekend!
10
u/Forsaken-Pea-5727 1d ago
Thank you that means a lot! I hope you do too! I don’t do many updates but it’s a tradition to do it once a year and I’m really grateful for it because I’ve had so many people reach out to me with cancer and I’ve met new friends that way even ones that live locally that I’ve been able to get together with. Which is just super cool! Hope you have a great weekend!
2
u/Umbreon86 1d ago
Thank you! It is awesome to hear that you have found new friends locally to have fun with. I bet there is a lot to talk about with them and it makes your days a little easier. You go girl! ❤️

u/guiballmaster 1d ago
I recall your previous posts. Congrats on being a Reddit inspiration to us all!
4
u/Forsaken-Pea-5727 1d ago
Thank you! And thanks for encouraging along it means a lot. My friends and family get my private updates but other than that Reddit once a year is the only place I publicly update because I try to spend a lot more time just doing things and not thinking about cancer most of the time I forget I have it. But I think it’s worth sharing once a year that life is pretty dang good and I’m pretty lucky. I feel thankful. I hope you have an awesome year and hopefully get to say hi next year too!
8
u/railwayed 1d ago
i saw a video the other day from a young woman named Claire Wineland who unfortunately died recently due to complications in a lung transfer operation. she said ""Go enjoy life because there's people fighting for it"
7
u/Forsaken-Pea-5727 1d ago
I’ve never heard of her and that is such a good outlook and way to say it. I absolutely love that. I’m going to remember that thank you for sharing. It’s so true even with my stage four cancer I’ve been really lucky that I’ve been stable and I’ve gotten pretty good news ever since they radiated the brain tumor. I’m still in treatment, but I feel lucky that I’ve gotten a lot of really high-quality days as far as how I feel. I have some friends though that have passed away from this or have much worse symptoms than me right now and I always think about them that they would give anything to still be here or to feel better to adventure so I try not to take my health for granted. And then I try to encourage them to shenanigan with me when they feel good! I really like the way she put it. Thank you for sharing it really does put things into perspective. I hope you have an awesome weekend and see you next year!

My dad’s journey from bladder cancer, to no bladder, to no kidneys has been successful because of his incredible fighting spirit and cheer. They know him everywhere he’s been, currently during his dialysis visits, for always answering “excelentemente bien” (excellently well/good) whenever asked how he’s feeling. They even joke and go “Ok, outside of excellently well, how are you feeling?” He’s always been an inspiration to me and continues to be so. Your enthusiasm against all this reminds me of him and it truly makes me happy to see you living life to the fullest. I hope to see your year six one (with a triceratops) in the future. Wish you the very best always :)
•
u/Forsaken-Pea-5727 5h ago
Thank you so much for sharing your Dad’s journey he sounds so awesome! And I’m sure his spirit has helped him so much I love hearing this. And that’s a honor I remind you of him in any way because he sounds like a rock star. I’m wishing him the best too and definitely hope to be here next year for triceratops fun! Years ago I got really sick and they ended up bringing via ambulance to a different hospital when I went to ER I had a neutropenic fever and just was pretty ill. I remember they had to just keep me there and do bloodwork every day until my numbers got better to leave and the Dr that came in to see me said your not going to die from this your not dying yet. And then he told me the people who seem to do the best with cancer try to keep their spirits high and stress low he said they don’t have official
Research for it but that’s what he’s seen over his profession so I think about that a lot and happy he shared with me. Makes me think of your Dad too and that he’s an example of that.

Damned happy to see you out and living a fun life, and I hope you get many more years to come. Lost my wife to ovarian cancer only 3 months after diagnosis, so it's always amazing when I see others beating the odds and living to the fullest.
3
u/Forsaken-Pea-5727 1d ago
I’m so sorry to hear about your wife. That’s so unfair. I hope that she wasn’t in too much pain and was able to enjoy those last three months. I’ve lost some friends to this disease and it’s just brutal and it really is my reminder that even on the days that I think my symptoms are bad people would give anything for that. And give anything to have just one more day and it puts things back into perspective for me. Thank you for sharing your wife’s story and I’m sorry I’m wishing you the best year yet and I hope that you can do something to honor her and her legacy.

u/Forsaken-Pea-5727 22h ago
Oh, there was definitely some heavy yoloing going on at the beginning! After about a year of traveling somewhere new every month, my oncologist said I might want to slow down because it was looking pretty stable. Lol he didn’t want me to run out of money and he was right. I am still alive quite a bit longer. It’s definitely a balance. But I haven’t regretted anything yet. I’ve definitely settled into a little bit more of a normal life, but I still really try to do something that I love each day or something for someone else I gave away a lot of money too and that made me really happy, but I’ve had to slow things down a bit. But I also find joy in a lot of the little things I’ve always been pretty frugal. All of my stuff is from thrift stores are used from marketplace. I’ve never bought anything new so I still enjoy just a walk and things that don’t cost money but some things do cost money so it’s a balance. lol

u/Forsaken-Pea-5727 1d ago
Heck, yes F cancer. And I do one of my friends that also has stage 4 Breast Cancer was having some progression so we went to Costa Rica together and we just had and all out Live like you’re dying trip with ATVs, zip lining, horseback riding, Whitewater rafting, tubing, rope swings, ect. It was such a blast. I would love to go back to Costa Rica and rent motorcycles to explore I think that’s my next trip I wanna take! And coming up there’s about 12 of us locally that we’re all dressing up as old ladies because we might not get to be and I’m hoping that we get really drunk and high and we’re having a F it day. I’m hoping it ends up being hangover style shenanigans but with a bunch of stage 4 cancer gals. I planned it because one of my friends the same one I went to Costa Rica with was having progression and I want her to have an amazing fun day that’s in a couple weeks so I’m actually gonna think that we will end up being one of my favorite memories I hope! We have a log shoot ride here locally and I think it will be so funny if all of us are dressed like old ladies and get really messed up and go down the lock shoot ride over and over again we’re not usually like that, so I think it would be a really fun day! I hope you have a great year and hopefully see you next year!

Good on you! I just got a full body ache thinking about backwoods dirt biking for hours in my youth.
4
u/Forsaken-Pea-5727 1d ago
I never did it in my youth, but I started doing it about three years ago and I really love it. I did break my collarbone though last month riding in the UP along Lake superior in the sand, the back wheel slid out from under me and I flew over the handlebars, which was kind of a bummer. I’m still learning so I’m not very good at it but now I’m working on a lot of clutch control so I can hopefully not get hurt as much in the future. Any tips I’m all ears! A friend sent me a girl on YouTube that does a bunch of videos, Megan Braaps and she’s fantastic. I’ve been watching her videos for a while now she’s amazing!

2
u/Forsaken-Pea-5727 1d ago
Well, heck yeah! And I’m all about tea and books. I’m not sure if you’re into these kind of books but I just finished one that blew my mind. It’s called the secret pulse of time by Stefan Klein. It was really good. I actually don’t read physical books as well as I used to because the tumor pushes on my occipital lobe, which makes me partially blind out of the corner of my eyes so if I concentrate for too long, I get headaches this one doesn’t have an audiobook and it was so good that I just took the time to slowly read it. I’m done with it so if you’re interested in it, send me your address and I’ll send it to you. Also, if you have any book recommendations, send them my way! I mostly do audiobooks just because it’s easier for me, but I try to have at least one book I’m slowly reading so that I don’t lose that ability.

My mom asked me that too lol and probably. I was racing snowmobiles last winter and my Neuro oncologist said just please wear a helmet sometimes he shakes his head at me, but he also knows I need to live my life. It’s kind of become a therapy for me like throttle therapy. I haven’t needed any other types of meds to cope so I kind of figured the side effects are maybe a little bumps and bruises here and there. I have had some broken bones though because I’m stupid lol but I sure am having fun 🤣

Dude in the 2nd pic are you doing a flip on a jet ski? that's like the most rad shit I've ever seen

u/Kahzgul 21h ago
Fuck cancer.
My dad died two weeks ago after a 26 year battle with at least a dozen cancers. But the cancer didn't get him; a common cold did. He was just old. He got cancer at 65, was told he had 3-5 years to live, and he made that cancer his bitch for a quarter century. I call that a win.
When I was in 8th grade, there was a girl named Lauren who had a terminal brain tumor. She was in a wheelchair and had to spend all of science class in the library because the building didn't have an elevator to the 2nd floor where the science class was. She was quiet and most of the kids were afraid to talk to her, but she had fire in her eyes. She was given 6 months to a year. I saw her four years later walking around with her parents. I don't know how or if her story ended, but I know it didn't go down the way the doctors told her it would.
You keep on kicking cancer's ass and don't accept the limits they say you have. FIGHT. Keep fighting. Fuck cancer. Thank you for giving other people hope.

I haven’t yet it was talked about for use of radiation necrosis back in early 2025 but we haven’t used yet. Have you been on? I have swelling in my brain from the radiation treatment and it’s been more of a wait and watch for a bit since I was a bit worried about Avastin side effects. I think I’ll eventually need to use it though and would love to hear your experience if you’ve used!

Thank you for taking the time to wish me well that means a lot to me! I agree most of those equipment are borrowed, but I do have a lot of toys that we get from marketplace and fix up. But even that adds up and is expensive so I do recognize that I’m really lucky but I find that I can have fun and lots of different ways that cost less. But you’re right I’m lucky in so many ways in life to have resources especially for health care not everyone has that and it’s not fair. The medical part really gets me going because I’ve had a lot better care than some people I know because of my insurance and it shouldn’t be that way. That shouldn’t be a reason people don’t get as much time. I’m wishing you the best year ever and if you’re ever in Minnesota message me and I’ll take you out to do something fun on my toys!

As someone who survived a random brain bleed myself and has also lost a close friend to brain cancer, I just want to say, "Keep being awesome!" You're living on bonus time and appropriately making the best of it!

I thought you were Kat Abugazaleh for a moment lol.
Whether you're doing well or poorly in life, if you don't make time for joy, you're doing it wrong.

OMG! I remember you from last year!!! You are such an inspiration and a total badass! It always makes me so happy to see pics of your adventures!
I used to ride dirtbikes and mud holes like that used to really freak me out! The small person giant bike struggle is real! I ended up just riding motocross for that reason.
Thanks for being an inspiration and reminding me that I need to get off my ass and make shit happen! Your positive energy is infectious, so thank you for sharing it!!! I wish you all the best for the future, but you know what? You don't need my wishes because you are crushing it!!! Keep being a total badass and thanks again for being such an inspiration!!! Hell yeah!!!

At first glance I wondered how you managed to make a skimobile do a flip out on the ocean...always making the rest of us look lazy!

You have a healthy spirit.
If I had such a condition I would do nothing and die, just as I am doing nothing and living right now.

As someone who was once told I'd be lucky to live past 42, I started counting every day after that birthday as bonus time (heart condition for those who care!, but my cardiologist thinks I'll live a nice long life!). 4 year 2 months and 12 days of bonus time so far.... I hope my bonus time score is higher than my originally allocated time, and I hope yours is too!! Fucking hell yeah, live that life and fuck cancer!

Way to live. My wife had a brain tumor and it was removed. If you need another opinion, DM and I’ll give you the name of her surgeon who is one of the best in the world. You could send him your images and give you his thoughts.
