Someone parked their Camaro on the bollards and then abandoned it. Driver is MIA.

My friend runs a gas station. Apparently the driver did this, then took off running.

Your friend that runs the gas station needs to erect a no parking sign.

Stolen car
•
u/Wolfhound1142 2h ago
I can almost guarantee you that it wasn't stolen, but the owner/driver was drunk and headed home to report it as stolen.

Nah. Camaros are a huge target for thieves and they dump stolen cars in neighborhoods like this one.
•
u/Wolfhound1142 27m ago
There's literally no reason to attract attention to yourself by crashing into something while ditching a stolen car. Meanwhile there's significant incentive if you crash your car while drunk to leave and say it was stolen later.
•

People who steal cars don’t give a shit about attracting attention, especially in a place like that. They probably jumped out of it while it was moving.

Probably stolen car or drunk driver
•
u/EstablishmentFull797 2h ago
Why not both?
•
u/sincewedidthedo 2h ago
You mean, like, a stolen drunk driver?
•
u/DMala 2h ago
Ugh, who would steal one of those? I mean, what would you even do with it?
•
u/SwordfishOfDamocles 2h ago
I stole a drunk driver once. He made me listen to Tubthumping on repeat like 10 times. I should've left him in the school bus where I found him.

Steal a car, put the stolen drunk in the passenger seat, crash the car, then hope they leave behind a slide for evidence

No no if they stole the drunk driver we'd call it a kidnapping
•
u/samtresler 1h ago
Huh. My friends always just call me the designated driver. Getting them out of the bar sometimes felt like kidnapping, but the bartender was complicit.

A guy I used to work with rolled his sports car then walked home and reported it stolen. He forgot to think of an excuse on why he was all cut up.

It happens so often, they put a permanent sign above explaining. Clearly due to beer wine and cigarettes

I’m no detective, but willing to bet that they didn’t “park” the car in this position

Does the store have a drive thru? Or were they taking it upon themselves to make one

I’d say “parked” is doing some heavy lifting here, but clearly it’s the bollards carrying this

That's not surprising. MIA has had a number of "personal issues" over the years. Hope she gets the help she needs.

Something similar happened near where I lived once. Someone got absolutely T-Boned at an intersection because they ran a stop sign going WAY too fast. The car was still drivable so the driver drove drove it down a little side street parked it in my parking garage and then bailed. Left the door WIDE open. I saw it when I was coming back from watch a sportsball game with some friends around 11:30-midnight. I saw the firetruck and tow truck in the main road when I got home. The next day the trashed car was there all day. I called the police and said there was an abandoned car in my garage that was involved in an accident. They sent patrol cars to inspect then a tow truck. I waited on the cops, and gave them the details on what I saw the previous night. They ran the plates and said the car was stolen. Someone probably stole it and were driving it around recklessly because it's not their car. Got in the accident and then bailed because there was no proof it was them.
If that were my car I'd be furious. Not only did my car get stolen, the cops found it, and it was fucking DESTROYED, and we all know insurance companies like to keep money, not give money out so they probably were like "having a car is a preexisting condition of it being totaled so you get nothing."

more like someone parked someone’s camero on the bollards and then abandoned it… lol

Probably drunk. Next morning, even if they are tracked down by police, they will be sober. Whatever consequences they face, it won’t be a DUI.

Camero, Charger and Hellcat owners might be some of the most irresponsible people on the planet

If I know anything about Camaros, I know that it’s more likely the driver is AWOL than MIA.

Huh TIL what bollards are.
(etym: "bolr", or tree trunk/stump, + "-ard", diminutive suffix. Essentially "little stump")

I'll be back... need to sober up first!
And grab my slide for me.
