Looks like that ump spends a lot of time behind a plate

I love that they’re just part of the baseball lexicon. Must be a dream come true for them.

54

u/WilliamMButtlickerPA Jul 21 '26

He did a video where I can’t remember the coach manager but they said they didn’t want to end up on Jomboy and then was yelling at the ump with his hand over his mouth lol

36

u/Bicwidus Jul 21 '26

Thats the "rookie manager asks ump for help getting ejected" or something like that

Ferguson came in and Walked the first batter, gave up a Grand slam and then gave up another Single before this.

I think his team should be yelling at him instead.

38

u/Unfair-Record3313 Jul 21 '26

INTENTIONALLY walked the first batter to load them up and get to Raleigh. Mistake.

11

u/King_Roberts_Bastard Jul 21 '26

→ More replies (1)

12

u/mcstatics Jul 21 '26

The mistake was the 75mph slurve down the middle of the plate on his first pitch to him. Raleigh has been dog shit this year without whatever supplement he was taking last year but a high schooler could have taken that yard.

You can always spot a man baby, because he takes his frustration out on other people.

6

u/Accomplished-Bear689 Jul 21 '26

I’d say that depends on whether or not those frustrations are directly someone else’s fault, wouldn’t you? Weak men blame others for their own mistakes, but the pitcher here got his professional life fucked with by the incompetent ump. He’s right to be mad

16

u/thrasher829 Jul 21 '26

Those are the pitchers base runners. Those affect his ERA and stats, completely 100% valid for him to be upset there.

22

u/extendedwarranty6 Jul 21 '26

He should've not thrown that giant meatball then

11

u/Blueballs2130 Jul 21 '26

A “giant meat ball” that led to a weakly hit ground ball that should’ve been an easy out

14

u/AsThreatenDoNotScore Jul 21 '26

Ump made a mistake. No need to get that personal when a simple "C'mon, Man!" would've worked just fine.

If I were Francona or Krall, Ferguson would be issuing a public apology to Bill Miller or he can haul his ass somewhere else. The Reds are supposed to be better than this.

12

u/LocalSlob Jul 21 '26

Also, realistically, that's a tough bounce in a tough spot and the 2B was in the perfect spot to get any ump frozen in place.

u/iLLiCiT_XL Jul 21 '26

Prick. His being fat has nothing to do with the bad positioning. It all happened fast. But to be up there cursing this dude out, with a cross on your neck, down 7-0 is rich.

219

u/jdubyahyp Jul 21 '26

The cross is so he can be an asshole, ask for forgiveness, and carry on as if nothing happened.

60

u/Randomizedname1234 Jul 21 '26

If a non denominational church taught me anything growing up in the South it’s that you can do anything as long as you just say “oops sorry🤭” to Jesus afterwards.

It doesn’t work that way but it’s wild to think people do.

13

u/iLLiCiT_XL Jul 21 '26

See, that’s the opposite of what I learned from non-denominational church (although, I’m in Jersey). You can say “oops sorry” to Jesus, but the words don’t matter if it isn’t in your heart.

1 Samuel 16:7: “But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.”

I don’t blame people for how they view Christians. Tbh, I blame Christians.

8

u/Vox-Machi-Buddies Jul 21 '26

Yeah, imagine publicly cussing out and insulting your coworker like that in any other job.

I get that the players are some of the best at what they do. But at the end of the day, their job is to play a game for peoples' entertainment. The ump is there to support the same goal. That's not how you treat people you're working with.

4

u/azabyss Jul 21 '26

Shit behavior from a shit bullpen and a little league defense behind it.

3

u/A_Sarcastic_Whoa Jul 21 '26

Nor does it have anything to do with the fact Ferguson walked a batter and gave up a grand slam and a single before this at bat either.

4

u/sierra-soul Jul 21 '26

yeah welcome to baseball and American "Christianity"

they dont use religion as anything besides absolution for their bad behavior, nevermind trying at all to be good people

26

u/FatherOfTwoGreatKids Jul 21 '26

The pitcher has a point. If that umpire is going to be in the field they should have some spring in their step to get out of the way in case of plays like this. It should be an expected part of the job.

→ More replies (6)

3

u/gwy2ct Jul 21 '26

In addition, I don't think the umpire had nothing to do with the grand slam the pitcher gave up before this...

3

u/PhilShabano Jul 21 '26

To be fair, it wasn't even bad positioning. An ump to the left of second would never plan on the second baseman going for that ball.

3

u/iLLiCiT_XL Jul 21 '26

Yeah I think so too, I’ve watched it enough times that I feel the same way about the play but seeing that 2B crossed over, I feel even more sure the pitcher overreacted. (The score doesn’t help either)

Also don't ever berate someone about their weight. You think dude doesn't know he's overweight? You think he doesn't already feel bad about getting in the way on the play? The ump could have ejected him right there if he wanted to but that would have been a bad look too after his obstruction. If the pitcher had any class at all he would apologize to the ump after the inning or after the game.

8

u/runenight201 Jul 21 '26

Should have been ejected right there on the spot.

Anything else and you’re condoning verbal abuse of referees.

Doesn’t matter whether the ref messed up or not.

You can get upset, but you can’t start verbally berating someone and bullying them.

He moved to his left as the ball went to his right. The 2B moved in quickly and as the ump saw him, he stopped himself in his tracks. Could happen to anyone. He clearly felt guilty about it afterwards.

2

u/Spartan_Cat_126 Jul 21 '26

I like how the ump kinda shakes his head like “yeah okay that’s my bad”. Granted I don’t know if he’s actually responding to the rather harsh language thrown at him or something else, but yeah.
