Video Sophie Cunningham getting HEAVILY BOOED in Portland... She knocks down a 3 and calls the crowd losers

She is actually using a hand signal to signify the "3" her thumb, index and middle finger not making an "L" to signify "Loser".

Hockey and its fan base are in another world of sports. Not a hockey fan in general, but attending my first minor league hockey game ended up being super enjoyable. Probably because every other sport that I watch has referees and league officials disrupting gameplay and outcomes by insisting that the players all act the same.
In that first hockey game I mentioned there was a fight on the glass right in front of us. As they broke it up one of the visiting players was skating away when he apparently saw this young kid(maybe 10) in a visiting jersey approach the glass. He turned around and fist bumped the kid through the glass and then flashed a huge bloody smile. Was a great moment and I had never seen anything like that.

Grew up playing hockey and still do. In Junior I had a lot of fights and after we would both get kicked out we would laugh about it and be buds in the stands most of the time. One time I knocked a guys tooth out and we met in the stands after and laughed about it and went next door where I bought him a beer. Hockey players leave any beef on the ice most of the time.

Flyers fan here. The "Crosby Sucks" chants are epic. If he wasn't a dagger in our hearts year after year, no one would care enough.

I’m a jets fan, Makar can score on us at will, so he gets booed here every time he touches the puck.

She recently made a statement about how she thinks transgender women shouldn’t be allowed to play in women’s sports. She also recently made an appearance at at a UFC event.
Both of those are pretty right wing things, and Portland is a very non right wing city.
Also, she’s in an opposing teams city.
93
u/FancyConfection1599 Aug 01 '26
I really think most people have this opinion, and most of the people who have this opinion staunchly defend transgender rights.
This is such a non-issue for people to get so worked up over, I have mostly liberal views and typically vote left but getting all bent out of shape over bs like this is exactly why so many Americans don’t identify with the left.
59
u/sevinup07 Aug 01 '26
I'm extremely liberal and agree it's a non-issue. It's not the left that's made it a talking point.

Let athletic governing organizations determine appropriate eligibility requirements for their specific level of competition. It's really that easy.

u/robokomodos Aug 01 '26
Are we really going to pretend that the right is spending hundreds of millions because they legitimately care about protecting women's sports? Of course not.
Hundreds of thousands of trans people are affected by employment and housing discrimination, bans on military service, an inability to get a passport, being unable to even use a public bathroom in many states, and more. But the trans issue that deserves the most public discussion and attention is maybe a dozen trans women in the NCAA? Fuck off. The right is just using the sports issue as an excuse to delegitimize trans people so they can do everything else.
→ More replies (25)2
u/urbanlife78 Aug 01 '26
This is the correct answer, this is nothing more than a facade to strip away rights from trans people
4
u/Ancient-Bug5895 Aug 01 '26
also gets people on the right politically engaged and more likely to vote, arguably the main reason for the whole boondoggle

The issue for me is she claims she wants to protect women and girls and yet she went to the UFC and did the ring walk etc in support of Dana White - a man who publicly slapped his wife across the face - and Conor McGregor - a literal rapist. If she cared about women and girls, she wouldn't go near these creeps.

u/Large-Hamster-199 Aug 01 '26 edited Aug 01 '26
Her exact quote when discussing trans athletes was "protect young girls in the locker room". So she believes trans girls are a threat to girls in a locker room. The implication is obvious.
Again, this is really something coming from MAGA supporters like her given that the president is mentioned tens of thousands of times in the Epstein files and was convinced of sexual abuse in civil court, lost his appeals and openly boasted about walking into the changing room of the teenage beauty pageant he owned. I'll venture a wild guess and bet that Donald Trump is far greater to children than any trans athletes.

About 3 in 4 Gen Z men (72%) say transgender women should not be allowed to play female sports, compared with about half of young women (56%).
Seems like men have more an issue than women... About a women's sport... Wild...
Tho I guess it's still above 50%.
And incase anyone is wondering about the poll:
This NBC News Stay Tuned poll was powered by SurveyMonkey, the fast, intuitive feedback management platform where 20 million questions are answered daily. It was conducted online April 11-20 among a national sample of 19,682 adults ages 18 and over. Reported percentages exclude item nonresponse and round to the nearest percentage point. The estimated margin of error for this survey among all adults is plus or minus 2.2 percentage points.

u/2mice Aug 01 '26
Its not complicated at all. Portland is a leftist cesspool. Women and lgb got all the rights they asked for and more, leftists stayed in "fight mode", but what could they fight for? Well, how about any man that wants access to women's private areas, they just have to call themeselves a woman, and they get free access, no questions asked. Basically, the womens right movement became about fighting for creepy perverts (note. Im not talking about actual trans people, they are not creepy, but they have gotten bundled in with creepy perverts because of leftists fighting for anyone who says their trans, again, no questions asked)
