I absolutely hate this shit! I would never put my son in a position to have to deal with those emotions in front of 30-40,000 people. It feels selfish and performative to me. This poor kid has been missing his dad for the last year, and now he has to process that in front of everyone so that people can get the feels. Pretty shitty if you ask me.

The last thing I wanted to do after returning from a deployment was spend any time away from my wife and kids. I would put up with the handshake from my squadron, group, and wing commanders, but other than that get out of my way... There is no way I would have delayed seeing my family for something like this.

I don’t know anything about their situation but the military often uses predatory tactics with recruiting people who don’t have many other options. Just seems a little unfair to judge someone without knowing their full story

You're getting downvoted, but these are 100 percent paid for by the US military. The kid can still get to see his dad after a year, but it doesn't need to be a public display. if the leagues are so passionate about it, do them for free and instead of getting money, donate a million each time to veterans charities.

He looked at it that way because that’s what it’s specifically designed to do. studies show that is bad for children’s of military because they think they can just wish their parents home when in reality they’re getting ass pounded by the Iranians right now. The United States military donates millions to the NFL for bullshit things like this.

And you know what the best thing is you can do you can celebrate the fact that it's a father returning to his son without celebrating the US Military. The two are separatable
And if you want to feel like you're taking the fight to the man on the internet you can say to yourself that ah by thanking the family and not thinking the military I'm saying fu you to the military.
