News Ted Cruz Booed on College Gameday

Ted Cruz was booed today on GameDay. At one point, it was so loud that you could barely hear him. Then the "Ted, you s*ck" chant started.

Why even have him on? Honestly fuck espn for this

u/therealgreenbeans 1h ago

McAfee, Saban and Cruz... Absolute nightmare blunt rotation.

21

u/FalconIMGN 1h ago

As CM Punk said 'Pat MAGAfee'.

11

u/paone00022 1h ago

Saban lead a black lives matter rally in Tuscaloosa after George Floyd. He's a Democrat so it must've been interesting interacting with Cruz for him

10

u/taco_jones 1h ago

This might be one of the most surprising things I've ever read

10

u/SergeantThreat 1h ago

I’m sorry, Saban, I wasn’t familiar with your game.

5

u/cft1848 47m ago

He has a reputation (rightfully) of being an old curmudgeon, but being from Alabama, I’ve known a few people that played for him, and all of them have said he’s genuinely a kind person and is especially nice to everyone’s mothers.

7

u/Dry-Membership3867 1h ago

Yep, he’s surprisingly pretty progressive too. Old new deal democrat

2

u/Future_Dog_3156 36m ago

I had assumed he like Tommy Tubberville or that wrestling coach from Ohio

2

u/Neither_Adagio1668 47m ago

Saban in West Virginia Democrat which is everyone is equal, gov is bad except when they need help should be there.

2

u/AdventurousImpact656 1h ago

Nick saban, while I’m not a fan of his teams, is a very interesting character

2

u/DetailHour4884 45m ago

I was going to say something to this effect. I disagree with college football coaches being the highest government-adjacent paid employees in a state and the politics of the NCAA in general, but outside of football, Saban has some fairly progressive views.

1

u/sherrybobbinsbort 21m ago

So crazy how much Americans identify by their political party and how they see the others as the enemy.
Just not a topic here in Canada that comes up.

1

u/ducksekoy123 11m ago

He knows how to play ball. I’m sure he just put aside any personal disinterest with Ted’s politics for the sake of the show

2

u/Dashin-through-dough 1h ago

Only because he had black football players on his team

1

u/AVLThumper 56m ago

Three twat waffles.

2

u/i312i 53m ago

Why don't you go research Saban a little bit instead of being a typical NPC.

1

u/Living-Baseball-2927 5m ago

Saban’s actually pretty goated

8

u/Electronic-Sun-9118 1h ago

And yet Kimmel can't host politicians on his show because of the fairness doctrine? Fuck the FCC.

5

u/JerryLeeLewis_87 1h ago

Seriously. Fuck this.

5

u/geddysbass2112 1h ago

Yeah fuck ESPN for having him up there.

2

u/ducksekoy123 9m ago

What do you mean? Who wouldn’t want to have on a politically divisive wet paper bag of a person who has zero experience with sports and who didn’t even go to the school in focus?

Dont we all want Canadian born Princeton grads putting on fake folksy accents to be on our college football shows?

1

u/Sunday_Schoolz 1h ago

I mean, why wouldn’t you want to have the Zodiac Killer on your college football intro program…?

1

u/Alert_Occasion_5806 1h ago edited 1h ago

Did Cruz have his luggage on rotation for travel as he does not do a damn thing for Texans. Do better ESPN😒

54

u/Particular_Crow7803 1h ago

Can college gameday get anymore off track. We are supposed to be hyped for football not a politician. For fuck sake they have ruined Gameday with this political bullshit. Why do they need to make everything about politics? It's fucking football don't fucking ruin it with bullshit like this god damn.

22

u/brillpit 1h ago

Steve Sarkisian was on just before that saying how they’re not talking about a TRO or other politics and it’s just about football.

5 minutes later and they give Ted Cruz a whole segment to yap.

Crazy

11

u/rj319st 1h ago edited 1h ago

They’re catching enough heat for the hate McAfee brings and throwing gasoline on the fire with Ted Cruz. WTF, ESPN, in NO other state would you put a politician on for a college football game? This has to be due to the November midterms and the Talarico-Paxton race.

5

u/Apeach710 1h ago

No its because Saban is the mastermind behind this whole “Save college sports” act rhat is doomed to fail in congress, and Ted Cruz is the guy he is working with because Ted still thinks he can be president lol, and he thinks passing a bill that kept the bread and Circus’s running properly while the world burns will propel him to the GOP nomination.

9

u/WitheredUntimely 1h ago

it's only politics if it's liberal, otherwise it's just sparkling opinion

1

u/Imaginary_Office1749 39m ago

Because we elected orangina twice and he makes every single thing political. The president for better or worse does set the tone.

1

u/mountainstosea 13m ago edited 9m ago

Well, American politics is treated like a sport now.

Two teams smack-talking to the delight of their fans until they play the most boring sport ever: talking on a stage.

12

u/WKRPinCanada 1h ago

😅 that was FANTASTIC

Actually took video but the sound isn't that great

Kudos to the crowd tho for keeping the booing/Ted you suck going on for that long

Whatta windbag 🤣

7

u/Head-Pattern-3278 1h ago

It got taken down wtf

1

u/WKRPinCanada 1h ago

What?

Weird...when I access it thru the link I left here it isn't deleted

But if I go to my page...it is 😐

Ah man... That sucks

Like Ted 😉

Cheers 🍻

When you compare this to the Kimmel-Talarico interview being banned from the airwaves it’s very hypocritical. I know its not a broadcast network but its the same damn company.

1

u/Dry-Membership3867 1h ago

Not really a comparison because this is on cable and that was gonna be OTA. The FCC doesn’t have regulations on cable networks like OTA ones so even if they wanted to, they couldn’t do anything to espn for airing anything

2

u/77NorthCambridge 1h ago

Have Talarico on next week. 🤔

1

u/Dry-Membership3867 42m ago

I suggested Disney play the interview on their cable channels. But they did not

2

u/Homersarmy41 23m ago edited 20m ago

Thats what i said. “I know its not a broadcast network.” That wasnt my point

9

u/oneOZone 1h ago

Fuck Ted cruz

17

u/PostalMortem 1h ago

They will be screaming about librul indoctrination in 3....2.....1

7

u/Equal-Bicycle-7922 1h ago

On the next episode of lioness, Taylor Sheridan writes a 5 minute soliloquy for Nicole Kidman to extol on the socialist menace of ivory tower eggheads who have never done a hard days labor on an oil derrick

4

u/MktgMonkeyX 1h ago

Throw in some ChatGPT-queried stats and that’s what we call the Sheridan Soliloquy in our house… Happens on every show he makes. Usually the start of the first episode of a new season.

Glad we’re not the only ones who’ve noticed this too.

2

u/Equal-Bicycle-7922 1h ago

It’s incredibly sad from the guy who wrote wind river.

2

u/geddysbass2112 1h ago

I'm surprised he hasn't said keep trans out of college football and talking about sweaty men in the locker room.

6

u/GregM70 1h ago

I clicked on a few minutes ago thinking I could deal with McAfee if I have to, it'll be fine. First thing I saw was Cruz and I was like nope. I'm out. Can't do this now this early.

2

u/JerryRiceOfOhio2 35m ago

yeah, between McAfee on one of the shows, and portnoy on the other, slim pickens for pregame shows

6

u/CougdIt 1h ago

Ted was on game day?!

Holy shit that program has been trash for a while now but that’s a shocking new low.

5

u/lewkablew 1h ago

Hell ya

5

u/SatisfactionOld1586 1h ago

College Gameday has loooooong been trash, as has ESPN as a whole. Even before McAfee, if you can believe it.

6

u/Cooper_Crissy 1h ago

Used to be a great 90 minutes on Saturday morning. Now, not so much. It's unwatchable.

Ted Cruz’s "Protect College Sports Act" is a corporate bailout disguised as athlete protection, designed to keep power and profits firmly with the NCAA. While Cruz claims to save college sports, his bill actually strips away player rights by capping transfer freedom, banning employee status, and imposing a hard age limit of 24. By granting the NCAA an antitrust shield, the legislation legalizes institutional control and ensures that multi-millionaire athletic directors—not the athletes—keep full command over the billions in TV revenue.

1

u/Pappy99 30m ago

You are so wrong. Money has ruined College Football. Im not saying players dont deserve some money, but 11m for one player for one season. Teams spending 40m for portal transfers. There needs to be a cap, just like the NFL, NBA, etc. The current model is not sustainable. A CBA is around the corner.

3

u/Fast_Current_2647 1h ago

Seeing these corrupt fascists fail or get owned has become my porn… I miss the before times.

3

u/Freddy-Borden 1h ago

Remember when MAGA was pissy whining about ESPN supposedly being woke?

3

u/187RobinBanks 1h ago

Wow. I can’t believe ESPN has stooped so low. Basically their flagship live broadcast with millions of viewers weekly and they invite on the panel a fucking serial killer.

3

u/Slim_Calhoun 1h ago

But Jimmy Kimmel can’t interview Talerico

3

u/scooter_mcsloth 1h ago

Well I hope ESPN gives equal time to the Democrat as well...I am sure the FCC is watching. Oh wait it's Pat Magafee not Jimmy Kimmel so they won't care.

3

u/No-Horse987 49m ago

Because Ted Cruz is one politician that puts the "S" in slimy. He just oozes of it with no character.

2

u/ConnectionWeekly1263 1h ago

Getting booed way worse than Ohio State or Oklahoma down in Austin

2

u/DamnAgedOne63 1h ago

Cruz is another bootlicking moron.

2

u/colorparalysis 1h ago

I told my husband that ESPN must hate him too because they didn’t turn his mic up. The booing was so loud that you couldn’t understand a word he was saying. Which is just fine because I’m sure it was all bullshit.

2

u/Brilliant-Chef-2568 1h ago

And yet he continues to get reelected.

2

u/Fast_Current_2647 1h ago

Just decided who I’m betting and cheering for tonight… hook’em

2

u/gnmatx 1h ago

Good.

2

u/Kekistani55 1h ago

Why tf are they putting Ted Cruz on their stage. I guess McAfee pulled another string

2

u/MyPupCooper 1h ago

What could they have possibly been thinking here?

“Let’s take this Trump nut rider, bring him to the bluest part of the state, surrounded by the bluest and most outspoken demographic, and pop him right there on TV”.

I don’t have any other explanation but they wanted him booed for some ad they will be running.

2

u/pong_Blarto2000 1h ago

Fuck Ted Cruz

2

u/SackOfPotatoes949 49m ago

Tell Ted football isn't a Canadian game

2

u/SignatureIncomplete 40m ago

Fuck ESPN for bringing him on. How about equal time? Where's Bernie Sanders take on college football?

2

u/Waquoit95 37m ago

In the same week ESPN features Ted Cruz and doubles down on washing Steve Ballmer's balls. ESPN is not our friend.

2

u/Nice_Soup3198 32m ago

I really hate that man Ted Cruz

2

u/tfly212 27m ago

Al Franken said it best: "I like Ted Cruz more than most of my other colleagues like Ted Cruz. And I hate Ted Cruz."

4

u/WildAmsonia 1h ago

Time to throw College GameDay in the trash

3

u/TankHandsome 1h ago

Should’ve been taken out a few collection days ago

2

u/Rope_slingin_champ 1h ago

Who watches gameday anymore? If I wanted to watch a coked out dickhead talk, id go to my brothers house

1

u/Head-Pattern-3278 1h ago

Didn’t Rafael go to Harvard?

1

u/77NorthCambridge 59m ago

Princeton undergraduate and then Harvard Law.

1

u/i-piss-excellence32 1h ago

Is there a video to this? Sounds funny as hell

1

u/Fast_Current_2647 1h ago

We need video

1

u/CalGoldenBear55 1h ago

To be fair, he is an absolute piece of shit but he was advocating for college athletes and sports. I did hear a loud “Ted Cruz sucks” chants.

1

u/Silver-Camera-3739 1h ago

1

u/JET304 1h ago

Gotta love college kids.

1

u/Kekistani55 1h ago

As if I couldn’t hate Texas even more

1

u/Silver-Camera-3739 55m ago

Surprise he skipped the "administrative Sharia law" warning on GameDay.

1

u/Own-Bunch-2616 47m ago

He’ll still get re elected

1

u/Cardavh 41m ago

Fitting!

1

u/benhur217 26m ago

I’d prefer if no politicians were on Game Day

1

u/MooseEmergency2317 11m ago

That warms the cockles of my heart.

1

u/reddit_user0026 0m ago

So they invited a Cuban Canadian who likes to cosplay as a Texan, who didn't even graduate from UT, to talk on a show featuring UT? What the hell were they expecting?

1

u/StomachQuiet7642 0m ago

I couldn’t believe it when I turned on Espn, its Game Day, no place for politics. And I agree on what the one person just said. Fuck Espn

-2

u/DalenPiper 1h ago

Why is he invited on College Game Day? What a lost cause you all are

-2

u/HiFiMarine 44m ago

Like or dislike this was pretty disrespectful. Especially when he is there to talk about bipartisan legislation that protects student athletes and college sports.

1

u/Trapped-In-The_90s 31m ago

I intentionally don’t respect people like Ted Cruz
