He has a reputation (rightfully) of being an old curmudgeon, but being from Alabama, I’ve known a few people that played for him, and all of them have said he’s genuinely a kind person and is especially nice to everyone’s mothers.
I was going to say something to this effect. I disagree with college football coaches being the highest government-adjacent paid employees in a state and the politics of the NCAA in general, but outside of football, Saban has some fairly progressive views.
What do you mean? Who wouldn’t want to have on a politically divisive wet paper bag of a person who has zero experience with sports and who didn’t even go to the school in focus?
Dont we all want Canadian born Princeton grads putting on fake folksy accents to be on our college football shows?
Can college gameday get anymore off track. We are supposed to be hyped for football not a politician. For fuck sake they have ruined Gameday with this political bullshit. They’re catching enough heat for the hate McAfee brings and throwing gasoline on the fire with Ted Cruz. WTF, ESPN, in NO other state would you put a politician on for a college football game? This has to be due to the November midterms and the Talarico-Paxton race.
No its because Saban is the mastermind behind this whole “Save college sports” act rhat is doomed to fail in congress, and Ted Cruz is the guy he is working with because Ted still thinks he can be president lol, and he thinks passing a bill that kept the bread and Circus’s running properly while the world burns will propel him to the GOP nomination.
When you compare this to the Kimmel-Talarico interview being banned from the airwaves it’s very hypocritical. I know its not a broadcast network but its the same damn company.
Not really a comparison because this is on cable and that was gonna be OTA. The FCC doesn’t have regulations on cable networks like OTA ones so even if they wanted to, they couldn’t do anything to espn for airing anything
On the next episode of lioness, Taylor Sheridan writes a 5 minute soliloquy for Nicole Kidman to extol on the socialist menace of ivory tower eggheads who have never done a hard days labor on an oil derrick

You are so wrong. Money has ruined College Football. Im not saying players dont deserve some money, but 11m for one player for one season. Teams spending 40m for portal transfers. There needs to be a cap, just like the NFL, NBA, etc. The current model is not sustainable. A CBA is around the corner.

I told my husband that ESPN must hate him too because they didn’t turn his mic up. The booing was so loud that you couldn’t understand a word he was saying. Which is just fine because I’m sure it was all bullshit.

I don’t have any other explanation but they wanted him booed for some ad they will be running.

So they invited a Cuban Canadian who likes to cosplay as a Texan, who didn't even graduate from UT, to talk on a show featuring UT? What the hell were they expecting?
Like or dislike this was pretty disrespectful. Especially when he is there to talk about bipartisan legislation that protects student athletes and college sports.
