I was living in Silicon Valley working for a startup...4 years out of college. A college friend of mine on the East Coast woke me up at like 730a Pacific time and told me to turn the TV on to any channel and hung up.

Took my brain a couple minutes to wake up and realize this was for-real real.

I'm Dutch, so I just got home from school on a nice summery day, ready to share stories from my second week at middle school as a 13 year old.

Came in cheerful and blabbering to hear my parents just say "sit down and be quiet", just as the news reported tower #2 being hit.

Even in Europe, we all felt the world was about to change.

Overal op de wereld. Dat was oprecht een heftige schok voor de wereld, ookal was het voor de Amerikanen.
