I feel like nature is sometimes just trying it's best to make me disbelieve in evolution. I feel personally mocked by these fish.

You should read this book called the ferryman. It’s pretty crazy. Your comment just reminded me of it….. and nothing ever reminds me of that book.

Creatures like this are actually proving the opposite for me. Because why would, whoever runs the simulation, create a fish like this. How you even think of that

u/keyboardtoes 1h ago
the nature of reality is such that advancement continues until artificial intelligence of the simulation itself is invented that which, in time, creates it's own simulation and in turn again that reality creates it's own simulation of reality and because the scales of processing differences are processing speeds versus eons of each surface simulation, each reality thinks it is the only and at it's own time scales but none shall ever end infinitum

God I love goby fish. They are hilarious as fuck. Had one in my salt water aquarium paired with a pistol shrimp and they were inseparable.

These are our relatives. I think this is what crawled out of the Ocean right? These things have feet and lips just like us.
25
u/Weak-Doughnut5502 1h ago
Nope. They're part of the anglerfish order. They're a kind of ray- fined fish.
We're a kind of lobe-finned fish. Our closest relatives who never left the water are lung fish and ceolacanths.
We're very distantly related. This is a case of quasi convergent evolution, since their fins work very differently to our distant ancestor's.

I've caught ceolacanths (in Animal Crossing). That's is so cool.
Maybe this fish will evolve to walking on land in a billion or so years.

Yeah nah dawg fuck the ocean depths.

u/julien_LeBleu 2h ago
They don't even live that deep aparently, only between 3 and 76 meters of depth (10 to 250 ft). Meaning an average swimmer can easily encounter one if at the right place.

That settles it. Evolution is real. Few-few-few hundred million years from now, they will be trying to take over the world on land.

It’s only a matter of time before they get their spines aligned with their feet and turn out to be competition for humans.

Their facial expressions gives off sentience. Their walking stature gives off failed experiment. We live in a simulation.
