Me and my friends are non practicing jews who moved to Boston in the last couple years, with the upcoming high holidays we wanted to attend services but would prefer to do it at a synagogue thats either explicitly anti-zionist or at least not explicitly zionist. Edit: A lot of people seem to have decided that "anti-zionist" means I can't even bear to hear the word "Isreal". I don't want to be at a synagogue that supports the genocide of palestinians, or the modern "state" of isreal's antagonistic and imperialist attitude towards everyone around it. Obviously there are going to be mentions of the historical concept of Isreal. I have read the Torah, and I don't have a problem with that.

Es ist mal wieder soweit. Heute ist jener 11. im Jahr wo vor einigen Jahren der Terror nach Amerika kam. Terror, Leid, Tod und Verwüstung. Amerika hat an diesem Tage etwas bekommen, was es sonst mit beiden Händen gibt.

Das ist mir vergleichsweise egal denke ich. Nachrichten, soziale Medien und viele Algorithmen klatschen einen zu mit Inhalten über diese Anschläge. Ist okay, vielleicht hat es ja jemand noch nicht mitbekommen. Ich hab davon schon mal gehört.

Und es ist jetzt nichts was nicht davor oder seitdem nicht auch ständig passiert ist und passiert. Nur halt nicht in Amerika. Wirkt wie ein Doppelstandart wenn man hier so betroffen reagiert, Nachrichten ähnlicher Tragweite aus anderen Erdteilen bewegen viele wohl eher nicht so.

Everyone knows that inhaling helium to make your voice higher is a “fun party gag” and that it’s always fine because helium is nontoxic.

No, just because helium is nontoxic doesn’t mean it’s safe. Helium replaces the oxygen out of your brain, heart, and lungs. This is especially dangerous for children since they have smaller lungs.

Just because something is nontoxic doesn’t mean it’s safe. Play-Doh is nontoxic, but does that mean we can eat it at a party? No, it can cause stomach aches, vomiting, and thirst.

I just hate how mainstream this “party trick” is and is framed as harmless, while it’s can actually be really dangerous.

I feel like my post didn’t explain itself properly.

I want people to acknowledge that it could be dangerous if not done safely.

Let me start by saying that I have been a fan of the University of Michigan for a decade, mainly because I have family ties to the Ann Arbor area. I have enjoyed watching them during that time but recently, the team has left a bad taste in my mouth. As you all know, the WMU broncos were robbed of an upset victory due to a poor officiating decision and I was appalled by the Michigan fans' behavior afterwards rushing the field. So much so that I feel that I do not want to identify myself with this fan base anymore. This is not "just one bad game." This comes after multiple other scandals in the university's history, such as the sign stealing scandal and the Coach Moore drama. I do not mean any disrespect to those who still like Michigan, but I myself just feel conflicted. Am I justified in wanting to leave the U of M fan base?

I am an Arab man. This is to say I have very thick body hair and quite a lot of it. Recently I’ve realized I simply don’t like having much body hair, as such I’ve started to shave in the shower every day.

After hearing so many people agonize over it, I was prepared for a full body shave to be relatively time consuming and annoying. It took me maybe 10 minutes the first time and 2-3 every day since. It’s been 6 months. I have never cut myself, I have never gotten razor burn, I have never thought it was a hassle. Genuinely it is the most mundane of tasks. If you don’t want to then 100% don’t do it, but if I can shave with the coarsest hair imaginable and have 0 issues, you’re either doing something wrong or complaining about nothing.

Edit: I did not consider that some people may be significantly more prone to irritation and/or than I just have very tough skin

Edit 2: my first shave probably wasn’t 10 minutes, likely longer. But my larger point is that first one took awhile, but since it’s been no Hassle at all

Normally I like to keep my thoughts about certain aspects of transitioning to myself. But i believe everyone’s journey and situations are different. I think there’s disparity inside and outside of the community when it comes to criterias for being in the trans community.

I don’t believe you need hrt or surgery to be trans.

People have multiple reasons why they are unable to medically transition: family and living situations, lack of support, unstable finances, health complications, being in a conservative country or area, safety issues, etc. It can be a very difficult process to start *and* maintain. Not everyone has the privilege of affording medication or surgery. And even if they could they may not be in a position to go through the process.

And all those reasons aside I don’t think there should be a strict “to do” list of things to have your identity respected. I think one of our priorities should be making trans people feel as welcomed as possible. And discouraging them from participating in the community just because they aren’t on E/T is counterproductive. No one is trans just for shits and giggles. It is very hard to live as a trans person (whether you are openly trans or stealth, it’s still a struggle). So i see no reason why someone would pretend to be trans or “hop on the trans trend” with all the issues we face.

I feel like we as a community have much bigger issues than whether or not nonbinary people are “trenders” or if a non-passing binary trans person is somehow setting the trans community back 50 years (which is dumb, no individual trans person has any power to set a community back). I feel like transphobes are going to find any reason to invalidate us regardless of how well we pass or what procedures we do. It does absolutely nothing to divide people based on transitioning or not. I know this is somewhat of a controversial topic but i just wanted to say if you’re trans but are not on any hormone replacements you are still absolutely valid 🖤

Eta: for those whose reading comprehension seems to be lacking this is about people who invalidate trans people who can’t/don’t want to medically transition. if you want to medically transition you should be able to and that’s fine. ultimately it should be up to the individual to decide what’s best for them. It’s a personal journey.
